This Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagne is a 2017 vintage produced in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.
2017 Year in Review
2017 will be remembered as a winemaker's year, marked by a severe frost at the end of April that significantly reduced yields across the entire vineyard. In Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, however, our Chardonnay plots, deeply rooted in the chalky soil, demonstrated remarkable resilience.
The growing season unfolded in cool, damp conditions, requiring constant attention in the vineyard. The more favorable end to summer allowed for slow and gradual ripening, without over-ripening, preserving the terroir's unique character.
The harvest, carried out at full maturity but with reduced yields, produced healthy, pure, and expressive grapes, resulting in wines that are both taut, saline, and deeply marked by the chalky soil of Le Mesnil. This 2017 is a champagne of pure expression, true to its terroir, without artifice.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Pale yellow with silvery highlights
Nose: Delicate aromas of citrus (lemon, grapefruit), green apple, white flowers, with a chalky and iodine note typical of Le Mesnil.
Palace: A direct and precise attack. The acidity is taut and elegant, supported by a fine and chiseled texture. A long, saline, mineral finish, carried by the chalk.
